SCHOOL ATTENDANCE REWARDS
Working together! Turning bright ideas into
brilliant actions so our school & our students can shine.
Veneta Elementary is working hard to reduce its 16.3% chronic absenteeism rate by rewarding attendance!
Students earn classroom points simply by attending school --on time!
At the beginning of every month classrooms start to earn points for school attendance. At the end of the month the classroom with the most points receives a party!
0 absences = 2 pts
1 absence = 1 pt
No Tardies = 1 pt
Parents win too --so set those alarms!
Every week the parents of students with no absences or tardies for that week will be entered into a drawing for a coffee card!
LOCAL RESOURCES FOR KIDS & FAMILIES
Located at Fern Ridge Middle School, and made possible by a
grant from Lane Kids, the Fern Ridge School District Family
Resource Center (FRSDFRC) serves all district families.
For small children, the Family Resource Center hosts playdates
and holds drop-in hours for kids birth to five years old.
For children entering kindergarten, "Kids in Transition to School"
(KITS) is a free program developed at the Oregon Social
Learning Center which boosts children’s literacy, self-regulation,
and social skills just prior to kindergarten.
For parents, "Make Parenting a Pleasure" workshops provide
families with strategies and skills to reduce family stress, help
parents understand and communicate more effectively with their
children, and help parents provide positive and effective
discipline --free of charge.
The Fern Ridge Public Library offers an array of programs for both children and adults alike: story times, arts & crafts (aka MAKERSPACE), summer reading programs, and so much more. Check out their events calendar for dates and times, or drop in for more information.
